Home Sweet Home!
We finally found a house to put a bid on and it was accepted! We are so excited to have somewhere to call home in Winfield. I know Todd will be so glad to get out of the rental house he has been staying in! Looks like all of us will be in the rental house for about 30 days until we can move into this one but it will just make us more thankful at Thanksgiving! Hannah is already planning where we are going to put the pool. Here are some photos from the realtor. Believe it or not I have only seen it on the internet. Todd did a tour and said it would be perfect. Can't wait until I get to see it! I'll keep you posted.

House Hunting
Things we've seen and thoughts we've shared this week....
We should have known things were going to be tuff when the first house we viewed smelled of a mixture of mold, mildew and of course the lavender Glade aroma candle burning just for us. How nice! The house was outdated but not as bad as the underwear lying on the floor upstairs..... All this for only $210,000. How could we refuse!
The realtor assures us he notices that we want a more up to date house, and swiftly takes us right down the road to a lovely two story vinyl-sided home with green goo on the eaves and a laundry room upstairs in a bedroom no less. What were they thinking? The up to date part must have been the paneling or maybe the wall paper that was less than ten years old. But of course the pool was an oasis. The kids assured us they could look past the shortcomings of the house because they would be living at the pool anyway right?
Wow, by the third house the realtor really new our taste and took us to see a newer home in a prestigious subdivision. While it was very pretty, it had no back yard and a balcony upstairs that was open on both the living room side and foyer. The first thing, Seth tried to do a Tarzan to the bottom floor.... Scratch house number three....
The realtor told us about big a house we could get real cheap. Now we're talking! Only the Biohazard crew would have to clean it up first because it was used as a meth house.....
We looked at a house today that was georgeous on the internet but it only reinforced our thinking that everything looks bigger and better on the internet.
So, after exhausting almost all efforts (not many houses for sale in a town with a population of 4,500) we think our 4 year old has the best idea. He asked if we were going to take our house on the big truck with us when we move. Well, we might just do it. If there is underwear on the floor at least I won't be afraid to pick it up.

Back to School

Well it has been a whirlwind two weeks in the Birdsong household. It is back to school time and I was right along side all of the other parents in a frenzied rush to buy school supplies ( we barely made it out alive). Little did I know that this would be the year I would become a "labeled" mom..... My daughter informed me that only a "plain" person would pick a plain notebook and the yellow pencils are "boring". I am too "old" to understand today's fashion. Does plaid really go with stripes now???
So, I am an unfashionable, old, plain, boring mom. When did this happen? Was it while I was asleep or perhaps it was when I blinked because I had something in my eye? Although I don't feel any different now than I did a month ago there has obviously been a change that is quite visible to the 4th grade eye. Now I just have to figure out if I can redeem myself or be destined to embarrass my daughter until she too becomes a "labeled" mom. Is there a special mom trick I can apply? Is this why you see some moms wearing their daughters clothes including mini skirts? Can't say I will resort to that.... I might scare the daylights out of the neighbors.
Anyway, unfashionable, old, plain, boring mom took the customary first day photo.

Finally an update.....
Okay, it's been over 5 months since I last blogged... I know... anyone who was even watching this blog has long since left so let's see if we can't get everyone updated.
Hannah and Seth have been enjoying summer. Soccer finally ended and we can all breathe a little easier. Hannah scored her first goal this year and so as promised I had to do the cabbage patch right then and there. In the poring rain no less with a parka on! How weird and deranged I must have looked soaking wet with a silly proud mom grin on my face dancing in the rain. All the while yelling woohoo. I am surprised my daughter even wanted to be seen with me after that much less get in the car. Oh, wait, she didn't get in the car with me.... She rode home with Dad. Nonetheless, she was bursting with pride over her goal and ready to take on the professional soccer world.
By the way, Seth scored his first goal this year too. How it happened I will still never know. Especially when he spent more time following around the coach telling him he was hot and doing somersaults on the field. But at least he was not picking flowers like the girls were. Dad was proud as can be about that. We thoroughly enjoyed the comical innocence of 4 and 5 year old playing soccer.
Now as summer break is winding down the kids are trying to squeeze all the fun they can get in before Hannah goes off to school. Seth is practically living in his clubhouse. There is nothing like eating macaroni and cheese and applesauce in the great outdoors! While Hannah is mastering the art of dizziness on the circle swing under our big oak tree.

We actually were able to skip the fireworks season and vacation in June! The kids had a blast in the pools and even went crabbing at night on the beach. Hannah caught sand crabs and fish and even picked them up. Although it took some cajoling on my part to convince Hannah they did not bite. Seth wanted to love them and squeeze them and call them my squishy... For those of you not well versed in kids talk that is from Little Nemo.....

The do's and don'ts of Internet information. We will email everyone the address and I will attach it to my blog so you can easily find. You can also click on the follow blog link and it will keep you informed of new posts and such.
Hope this post catches you up a bit. I will try to be more faithful at updating.
